Two former Celtic players who have left the club within the last year for next to nothing are in line for bumper big money moves after impressing for their new clubs.

The surprising rise of Saidy Janko has taken everybody by surprise after his woeful time at Celtic where he never really got going.

The 22-year-old is reportedly subject to a £4million bid from Portuguese giants Porto after impressing for St Etienne this season. A fantastic move for the defender if it comes off.

Elsewhere, and probably less surprising to Celtic fans is the interest in Liam Henderson from Serie A side Fiorentina just six months after leaving Parkhead on a permanent basis for the first time in his senior career.

The midfielder has excelled with Bari, but the team failed to gain promotion and are now in financial difficulty – that combination is likely to see Henderson move on with a bid of around £2.5million reported in Italy.

There’s every possibility Celtic have worked a sell-on clause into Henderson’s deal and the club could be due a few quid if he makes the move.

That means two players who were deemed surplus to requirements by Brendan Rodgers not so long ago could nag a collective transfer fee of £6.5million.

Sometimes, for whatever reason, things don’t work out at particular clubs and it’s great to see both doing so well now.

All the best to both of them if they manage to get their big money moves.

  1. Sh1t happens.

Neither of the players would have been starters for us. Well done on them both for grabbing their chance. I wish them every success.

  2. What is that headline about? It is very different to the tone of the article. They are two boys that pulled on The Hoops, did their best, it didn’t work out, but we wish them well 🙂
