Ange Postecoglou has delivered an update on David Turnbull and there’s light green at the end of the tunnel for the midfielder.

David hasn’t kicked a ball for Celtic since going off injured in the League Cup final back in December. During the first part of the season, the former Motherwell man was integral to Ange’s team.

The unfortunate injury picked up by Turnbull has meant three months out on the sidelines as he’s watched new players come in and move ahead of him in his position.

Speaking ahead of a rare Monday night kick off for the hoops, for their Scottish cup tie against DunDee Utd, Ange confirmed David wouldn’t make it in time for the Tannadice game but will be back training with the first team squad after that.

Turnbull pulled up during Celtic’s League Cup triumph against Hibernian

Ange Postecoglou said [Celtic FC]: “No [next week] is too soon for ‘Bull.

“All going well, he’ll probably train with us post Monday’s game, we’ll see how we go from there.

“He’s almost back training with the team.

“We’re training Saturday, Sunday – I expect everyone to be available from the last game.”

David and Kyogo are the two major injuries for Celtic, both have been out since December. To get both back for the post-split fixtures would be a massive shot in the arm to our title hopes.

David will have more competition but we’re certain the midfielder can rise to the challenge.
