He came, he saw, he sat in the stands. Marvin Compper has to go down a the biggest waste of money in a long time for Celtic – the player being signed under Brendan Rodgers for over £1m and a decent wage.

He would only ever play 83 minutes of a Scottish Cup early round game and that would be it. Injury was blamed for some of his omissions but towards the end of his Celtic career, Marvin was making noises about being fit and not understanding why he wasn’t being used.

This didn’t change under Neil Lennon and the German was let go in the summer to head back to Germany. Marvin signed for MSV Duisburg on a player/coach contract.

Playing in the THIRD division in Germany, the defender has already played 12 games for his new club and they now sit top of the league.

It’s crazy to think the defender was brought in to add experience to our defence but just never got a chance.
