BRENDAN RODGERS has braced the Celtic fans a team without Broony tonight after admitting the Celtic captain is carrying a knock.
Celtic are in Austria for their matchday two tie against Salzburg and are already without Filip Benkovic, Kristoffer Ajer and Tom Rogic.
The bhoys may now have to play their away day without their ever-present captain in another major blow for Celtic’s chances.
Speaking about his captain, Brendan Rodgers thinks he could play but may decide not to risk the midfielder in case it rules him out of other important games.
“We’ll need to have a look at Browny, he could be struggling
It’s just weighing up the risk of the longer term scenario. I would never take a risk on any player if it meant he could be out longer term.
“He’s brilliant for me. You know if he can’t play, then he genuinely can’t play and the risk is too great.
“If he’s not available, then it will be someone else who comes in to do a job.
“It’s a tightness in his hamstring. He’s had issues with it before over a number of years.”
Broony is the heartbeat of the Celtic team, mopping up everything in front of his two centre backs.
This injury scare brings into sharp focus the need to a replacement for Brown who can’t continue to play the number of games he has currently been playing.
Mulumbu could get the nod in Brown’s role if Rodgers believes it’s not worth the risk.
