Karamoko Dembele had the chance to impress Ange Postecoglou in pre-season back in the summer when stupidity struck.

During a pre-season FRIENDLY, the winger was brought down with a very heavy challenge against Bristol city. The result was a lengthy layoff and perhaps his last real chance to make an impact at Celtic.

The youngster has undergone surgery since the horrific challenge and has been in rehab ever since.

It’s been a frustrating time for Karamoko. Given Celtic’s lack of squad depth and injury crisis, there was every chance he’d have got meaningful game time during the first half of the season.

The youngster’s now playing catch up.

FootballScotland have reported the good news that Karamoko will rejoin the first team squad training as early as next week.

There’s a long way from training with the first team and being considered ready to start a game or even be in the match day squad.

The winger is also about to enter the final six months of his deal and will be free to talk any other club come January.

We’ll have to see how this plays out; if Ange sees a future for Karamoko and if the player wants to continue his career at Celtic.
