It was a worrying moment for. Elric fans when Stephen Welsh went off in the latter stages of a Scotland under 21 tie on Monday evening.

The Celtic star has found himself back in the thick of it for the Hoops due to a Carl Starfelt injury.

We’re not quite sure how Carl is getting on in his recovery and if he’ll be available for the semi-final on Saturday but Stephen has given Ange Postecoglou a boost by confirming he’s fit and ready to go, if needed.

“I’m fine. It was a knock when their player had a shot and followed through on us, but I just came off as a precaution. I’ll be fine for the weekend.” Welsh told RecordSport.

“You’re always worried when you feel a bit of pain, but luckily it wasn’t a twist or anything. It was just pure impact so I should be fine.”

Stephen played a lot of games at the beginning of the season but has found himself on the bench since Carter-Vickers came into the club and partnered Carl Starfelt.

The defender has come in for the injured Starfelt and acquitted himself well again. If the Swede isn’t ready to go for Hampden – it’s good to know the Celtic academy star is available for selection.

The big worry was, we’d only have one fit centre-back for the match against St Johnstone. Luckily, we have Stephen and potentially have Carl.

Fingers crossed we can get to our first final since the quadruple treble Scottish Cup final where Celtic played inside an empty Hampden.
