SKY SPORTS German correspondent has poured cold water over Celtic’s pursuit of Christopher Scott.

Celtic have had Christopher on a long term list of targets, but they might have to look elsewhere and come in for the midfielder further down the line.

Florian Plettenberg claims the 19-year-old wants to stay in Germany for the time being — whether hat be at Bayern or loan elsewhere.

Celtic have been pursuing a Tom Rogic replacement and Christopher has been in their radar. The deal seems to be getting further and further away at this point.

Ange Postecoglou has always maintained the club have a number of targets for each position so they never put their eggs in one basket. If Christopher isn’t going to leave Germany it will be up to the Celtic scouts and new recruitment boss Mark Lawwell to seek out their alternatives.

There’s no rush at the moment with Celtic not due back until the end of the month. Celtic fans will be hoping the first team scene has a couple of new faces during pre-season and more importantly some familiar ones in CCV and Jota who are yet to declare their futures.

  1. Bayern are just protecting their own interests, can’t blame them.

Benfica has done the same with a supposed Celtic target, another 20 year old, by slapping a €100m price tag on him, I’m reading!

Tbh I’m not taking any of these transfer speculations seriously until the club confirm them by making clubs offers.

What amazes, maybe even annoys me is that when other clubs, like Benfica in this instance, put a high value on their young prospects, nobody bats an eye at it, but if we do likewise we’re told we’re mad, and end up letting players go for a fraction of their true worth, as was the case with Tierney, among others.
