There has been a fresh twist in Celtic’s chase for a new manager and setup after Eddie Howe emerged as the overwhelming favourite to be the next Hoops manager.

Until now, it’s been widely reported that Fergal Harkin of Manchester City has been in the frame for the Technical director role but MailSport is now reporting that might not be the case and Eddie Howe wants to appoint Richard Hughes to the role.

Richard is the Cherries Technical director and the newspaper report Howe would prefer to see Hughes in the role although this hasn’t been confirmed.

The report also claims former Celtic academy striker Mark Burchill will likely come in as a scout under an Eddie Howe setup. Mark is scouting for Bournemouth at the moment.

This would be a sensational shake-up and a far departure from the Harkin/Keane rumours which had been doing the rounds.

Stephen McGowan, who put the report out seems confident Hughes is the man Howe wants but will the club allow it?

The whole idea of having a technical director is so we can have continuity if a manager was to ever leave the club like Brendan Rodgers.
