It might not come as a major surprise to some Celtic fans but it looks like one of its mainstay players, Mikael Lustig will end his trophy-laden career this Summer.

Reports in today’s Daily Record say that Malmo has offered the 32-year-old a contract. Lustig has said before he would like to finish his career back home in Sweden. The Swede has been a massive part of everything good that has happened at Celtic Park over the past seven years.

At 32, Lustig should have more than one offer on the table come to the end of May. AIK Stockholm are also reportedly interested. It’s unlikely he will be in a hurry to sign with a new club when Celtic still have so much to play for. A large section of Celtic fans feel the right-backs legs are gone and are happy to see him move on. Nobody can take away the contribution he has made to Celtic Football club in his seven-year stint.

The defender will leave Scotland with seven league titles, three Scottish Cups and four League Cup winners medals.

  1. I love this guy and will be very sad to see him go but realistically it is probably best for all concerned. Let’s hope he leaves on a high with a treble treble in his pocket. He will be very welcome back at Paradise anytime except by helmet-wearing polis!

    God bless u Mikael.
