It seems like it’s open season on Celtic’s youth stars. Earlier this week it was reported that Bayern Munich were in for Barry Hepburn

Now Manchester City are looking to snap up Celtic rising star Josh Adam. The 16-year-old has been able to sign a pro deal since February when he turned 16 but has yet to put pen to paper with Celtic.

SunSport claim Manchester City are close to landing the Celtic youngster for a small UEFA enforced compensation fee.

Celtic also lost defender Liam Morrison last summer to Bayern.

It’s concerning that so many of our players are now being picked off by clubs with more financial clout. Celtic can’t afford to pay massive transfer fees so bringing players through is a must. It’s going to be hard to bring stars through if they keep being poached.

The club might have to adjust the way they operate to make sure we don’t lose young talent on a more regular basis.

  1. Thanks to UEFA rules there’s nothing that we can do…except not bother with a youth set-up at all. What we should be doing is saying to those that we spent years rearing is that if you don’t sign a contract and you go, you won’t get to come back – ever. Think about that when you’re languishing on-loan in the reserves at a German second-tier league team at 21 with your bank balance all swole but your career heading down the pan…
