MANCHESTER UNITED LEGEND and current Wales Boss Ryan Giggs has told Record Sport how James Forrest could be Scotland’s answer to Gareth Bale after admitting to watching the Celtic star’s recent international performances.
The player turned manager reserved special praise for Forrest and singled out his performance against Israel in particular as a standout – the way the midfielder took his goals.
“I remember when Forrest came on the scene a few years ago he was billed as the next big thing and he’s clearly talented.” Giggs admitted.
“I watched the Albania game and he was great. His goals were really impressive in particular and then he did it again against Israel.
He can be that player who can make the difference. When you have guys who take players on and make things happen, it just opens up the game completely.
“Gareth does that for us and perhaps Forrest could be the talisman Scotland are looking for.”
Forrest has scored 12 goals in his last 12 games for club and country and is on a major role.
The midfielder has hit another level under Brendan Rodgers and even kept Patrick Roberts out of the side last season.
There are a lot of eyeballs on Forrest now and despite what Kris Commons says there will be interest in the Celtic star in the coming weeks and months.
Luckily for Celtic they have him wrapped up on a new long term deal and have no desire to sell their youth academy product.
