Celtic are becoming very active in the transfer market this week. The club confirmed the double signing of Joe Hart and James McCarthy on Tuesday and they’re looking to bring more in as soon as possible.

One player who has been linked with the club over the past week is League of Ireland defender Liam Scales.

Shamrock Rovers boss confirmed Celtic have made an approach but nothing is imminent. Speaking to SunSport, Stephen Bradley said:

“I fully expect Liam to be with us next week. But there is a lot of serious interest from the English Premier League and Scotland.

“It’s always been there for the last year. We’ve had a number of managers ring myself and Stephen (McPhail) regarding Liam and watching him on a weekly basis.

“That has been there as well as Celtic and others. There is a lot of interest. There have been bids put down.”

The 22-year-old plays centre-back and the Shamrock Rovers fans we’ve spoken with have raved about him.

Could he come in and play a backup to others in the squad? Celtic shouldn’t be signing anybody who is going to be a passenger.

Scales is too old to play for the colts so he would be heading to Celtic to be part of the first team.

We wait to see what Celtic have in store next. Hopefully a win in the Czech Republic can set us on our way.

The bhoys are in town to play Jablonec on Thursday night with the manager looking for his first Celtic competitive win.
