The English giants have not been the first club to send representatives to see the new install at Celtic Park. Many were sceptical about the practicality and the red tape involved to install a safe standing area. Celtic have again lead the way and fought Glasgow City council for the opportunity to enhance matchday atmosphere.

Since, the stands opening at the start of the season it has received rave reviews from all quarters. Many of the videos coming out of the section going viral with popular football social media accounts. The recent Manchester City game was also another showcase of how well it works with many saying the atmosphere was just that bit more special than usual at Celtic Park that night. The safe standing and obvious contributing factor along with the Green Brigades noise and support.

United are open to introducing an area similar to that installed by Celtic, with a capacity of close to 3,000 should it be deemed legal. However, any such move will be reliant upon the interpretation of the 1989 Football Spectators Act.

  1. Good, the more clubs that can do this the better. United fans like to stand anyway, in defience of the ‘rules’, genuine fans that is , not the groupies and tourists
