Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has reacted to playing his first-ever game in his illustrious career at Celtic Park last night.
In his 20-year playing career, Neuer has incredibly never played at Paradise.
The German legend started against the Hoops in Bayern’s 2-1 win and was tested on a number of occasions in the second half, failing to keep a clean sheet after Daizen Maeda’s goal from a corner in the 79th minute.

Neuer revealed just how blown away he was by Celtic Park and the noise that the Hoops faithful brought against Bayern last night.
He said: (Bayern Munich FC Website), “Celtic had a really long unbeaten home run and that’s not easy to achieve.
“We didn’t buckle under the pressure. We could have been cooler in certain situations, but we remained level-headed for most of the game and played smart football.
“It was really important not to concede another goal and drive home with a draw. It was very loud here. It’s rare to experience such an atmosphere and that was special for us.”
Maeda certainly raised the atmosphere in the second half with a goal and twice managing to press Neuer impressively.
Given the German goalkeeper’s renowned ability to play out from the back, the atmosphere clearly got to him, with Maeda orchestrating the crowd with his unbelievable attacking threat.
Neuer has seen and done it all, winning two Champions Leagues with Bayern and the World Cup with Germany. However, Celtic Park gets to even the very best, and he was caught up in the heat of the game in the second half, showing that no matter how experienced you are, when the momentum goes in the Hoops’ favour, it can be near impossible to stop.
