SHANE DUFFY sounds like he’s ready to get down to business for Celtic after a poor international break with Ireland. The new Celtic signing admits he’s his own worst critic and the international break has been hard given his lack of game time over the past year.

The bhoys will have Shane to call upon from this week onwards until the end of the season and Neil Lennon will have to assess where he is before deciding if the defender will start against Ross County.

Speaking about what he needs to do and his ambition, Celtic fans will be happy with the noises Shane is making so far. He is determined to be at his best and play every week for the Hoops in what is one of the most important seasons in the club’s history.

“It’s been tough, very tough. I haven’t played a lot of football in a year. That’s where I want to be, playing every week. I know it’s not perfect, I’m my biggest critic and I’ve got to improve and keep going.” Duffy told RecordSport.

“I know what I need to do, to get back to my best. Those slight seconds for the goal the other night, you’re tired. You try and stay up and go on the run.

“I back myself and I don’t see many players really getting the better of me. I’ve got to deal with big spaces and being on the ball, I’ve got to get better with that.

“It’s easier said than done. I keep going back to it, we’re not at match fitness. There’s a lot of improvement to be done.”

The hard work starts now for Duffy and his new team-mates, it’s imperative when he does come into the side that he’s ready to hit the ground running.

There are so many games to be played between now and the end of the season, Celtic have three games in a week upon their return to domestic action on Saturday.

It will be interesting to see if Neil goes with a 3-5-2, injecting Duffy beside Ajer and Jullien or he drops either of his first team pairing to accommodate the Irishman.

  1. Aw, this was an incredibly nice post. Taking a few minutes and actual effort to
    produce a top notch article… but what can I say… I hesitate
a whole lot and never seem to get anything done.
