On-loan Celtic winger Marian Shved has opened up about his future at the club, suggesting he may return to Glasgow in the summer.

As quoted by the Daily Record, Shved revealed he does not know what the future holds at this stage with the possibility of a return to Celtic Park in the summer under new management seems to be a possibility but ultimately, the most important thing for the Ukrainian is his playing time in the side.

“At the moment the situation is that I will have to return to Glasgow at the end of the season because I have a contract with Celtic.

“What will happen next…I don’t know.

“Maybe I will stay at Mechelen, perhaps I will move to another club or maybe I will stay with Celtic. The situation will have to be resolved within the next month or so.

“Celtic will have a new manager because they recently fired Neil Lennon.

“But we don’t know yet who will take his place. Hopefully, I will know soon.

“The important thing for me is whether I will play or not. It’s the same everywhere, no matter what club you are with.

“It’s difficult for me to say whether I would adapt better in Scotland now after my time in Belgium.”

Shved’s time at Celtic has been a bit of a strange one, from the off. Just before he was signed, Brendan Rodgers admitted to knowing nothing about the winger. So, it set up what has been a bizarre start to life at the club.

On one of his first appearances, he scored a great goal in the victory away to Nomme Kalju which excited many Hoops fans of what sort of player Shved could be. But after that night, the 23-year old has rarely been since with only a handful of sub appearances.

This season, he is spending the campaign with Belgian side K.V Mechelen. Despite a poor start to life in Belgium and receiving heavy criticism, in 2021 he has become a key player for the side that currently sit mid-table in the Jupiler League.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Shved and if the new manager has a chance to assess him in the summer.
