Former Celtic striker Mark Burchill’s daughter Tiree followed in the footsteps of her Dad by making her first start for the Celtic Women’s team on Sunday.

It was a great day for Fran Alonso’s side as they kicked the season off in style as they emphatically defeated Hibs 9-0 at the Excelsior stadium.

This was the sides first competitive match since they clinched a historic cup double with there being a lot of changes to the side since with many players departing the club along with some arrivals.

Goals in the match came from Jacynta and Clarissa Larisey who both bagged a hat-trick as well as a brace coming from Amy Gallacher along with an own-goal.

Tiree Burchill managed to grab an assist on her debut as the 17-year old delivered a great cross into the box to give Celtic the advantage before a minute had even gone past on the clock which set the tone for the day.

Burchill was not the only connection to Celtic names of the past with Amy Gallacher being the great-grandaughter of Legendary Hoops star Patsy Gallacher.

Gallacher only made the switch to Celtic this year from Hibs and looked destined to score on her debut against her former side.

Alonso’s side will next face Partick Thistle Women on Sunday afternoon.
