CELTIC have yet again been linked with Joe Allan with rumours emanating from down south that the Welsh midfielder quite fancies a move to Celtic in the near future which would no doubt be a marquee signing.

The two reactions to this news are his wages and fee.

Well, apparently his wages would NOT be an issue according to football site SillySeason.com.

The website claims to have a note of most Stoke City stars wages as of January 2018 and Joe is surprisingly on the lower end of the pay scale when it comes to Stoke players.

If these figures are in the ballpark then it would mean Celtic would not have to break the bank when it comes to weekly wages and the Welshman would fit into the higher end of the pay scale at Celtic Park without disrupting it.

Again, these figures are speculative and may only be basic wage before bonuses.

This would mean it’s a matter of fee, and well, that looks like the deal breaker – literally.

With Allan having three years to run on his Stoke contract, the Championship side holds all the cards and can ask for any fee they desire as they look to hold onto the player.

The midfielder will have suitors this summer, outwith Celtic and Stoke will likely ask for big bucks if they’re to part with Joe.

Celtic have a plethora of midfield talent and unless Joe landed on their lap at a reasonable price then Rodgers knows the deal is beyond Celtic and the parameters he works under.

Maybe reports are true that Joe fancies the move, but it takes a lot more than that to get the deal across the line.
