According to reports in France and The Scotsman Celtic have been approached by Marseille about a potential swap deal involving strikers.

The French club are keen on Celtic star Moussa Dembele, so much so they reportedly want to give Celtic a cash plus player deal to land the French under 21 star.

The striker in question is Valere Germain.

Germain, 28, has an eye for goal and scored reguarly for the club last season.

The striker came through the ranks at Monaco and was signed by Marseille last summer for a whopping €8million.

However, it looks like any deal which would involve the player is a no go, with the Frenchman not keen to leave France for Scotland.

There are so many moving parts with any transfer deal, the more players who are involved in the deal the more difficult it becomes.

For Celtic, they want top dollar for any of their major stars and would unlikely see the benefit of taking a 28-year-old striker in return for their young striker.

Celtic are still in the transfer hunt for players ahead of Friday’s deadline but this interesting sidebar with Dembele will be unlikely to go away until the window closes.
