DAVID MARTINDALE has said post-match that Celtic players are hitting balls intending to hit an opposition player’s hand after his side were the victims of a VAR call.

The Livingston manager made the statement after a Livingston player had his hand in an unnatural position as Jota tried to lift a cross into the Livingston box. After the referee missed the incident, he was instructed to head to the monitor to have a second look.

Collum then pointed for a spot kick and up stepped Giakouamkis. The Greek striker watched as he missed the target, with it his second touch of the match. It wasn’t costly, so hopefully, the striker’s confidence doesn’t take too much of a knocking.

As quoted by the Scottish Daily Express, David Martindale made his ridiculous VAR claim that should be laughed at. He said;

“The penalty is a penalty, you can’t defend like that now. I think what you’re seeing with teams now is they’re trying to clip the ball off player’s hands if I’m honest. That’s going to be modern day football.

“I don’t see it as cheating, just a part of the game and I’m not saying that’s what happened in this case but I’m starting to see it now in football.”

It’s a silly thing to come out with. He was complimentary of Celtic before the match but has turned bitter after Celtic strolled to a 3-0 win over his Livingston. The Livi boss bemoaned soft goals his side conceded and didn’t really want to give the bhoys any plaudits.

  1. The Livi man is a wee toe-rag. He is mixing us up with the team from Govan who get lots of penalties!
    He must be suffering from delusion, since we’ve gubbed his mob big style over the last season or so.
    Back in the box Livi man!
