Celtic winger Maryan Shved has got a call up to the Ukraine squad for their upcoming qualifiers/friendlies. Andriy Shevchenko has included the young Celt in his twenty-four man squad despite the winger not getting too much action in the Hoops.

The Ukraine will go up against Lithuania in the European qualifiers and also play a friendly against Nigeria.

Shved impressed in pre-season but the form of James Forrest has kept the youngsters game time to a minimum. There was and is high hopes for the winger as a ton of video footage made its way to Celtic fans last season of Maryan banging in the goals in the Ukraine league.

The player has only one cap so far for his country so far and the experience of playing for his national team and having a coach like Shevchenko can only be a good thing for Celtic. Both games are scheduled for early September.
