BRENDAN RODGERS has told Celtic fans he’s wrapping Craig Gordon up in cotton wool ahead of this month’s Scottish Cup Final.

The Scot missed the Hearts game at the weekend due to a slight knee injury and Rodgers confirms he will not be risked against Kilmarnock at home.

It remains to be seen if the stopper will get the Aberdeen game at the weekend to make sure he’s fit and raring to go for the Cup final but there is a chance he doesn’t make it.

Scott Bain has been deputising well in his absence and could find himself starting the showpiece final if Gordon is deemed not worth the risk.

“Craig’s not fit just now,” Brendan Rodgers admitted. “We’re just monitoring him between now and the final and we’ll just see how he is; it’s his knee.

“There’s just a slight pain in it and it’s not worth the risk. He could play tomorrow but we want to ensure we have as many players as fit and strong and available for the final as we can.”
