It has been confirmed today that Tom Rogic will NOT be available for Celtic’s trip to Ibrox next weekend after Brendan Rodgers confirmed in his post-match press conference after a 3-0 win against Dundee.

Yesterday, Rodgers was hopeful of working out an agreement with the Australian FA, but no deal has been struck, and the midfielder will head to Dubai straight after the Boxing Day game against Aberdeen.

“Tom will play in the Aberdeen game and then fly out after that, as far as I’m aware. It’s a shame for him and us.” Rodgers told Celtic TV.

Tom Rogic has become a big game player for Celtic and has scored plenty of goals against the Ibrox team in recent years.

It is a significant blow for Celtic who will have to do without his services.

The Asia Cup starts on January 5th, but the Australian team are to meet up before the new year to work on their game plan for the tournament.

It was thought Celtic could convince the Socceroos to let Tom play as the midfielder was desperate to do so. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be.
