CHRIS SUTTON has told fans on social media the board would be sending out the wrong message if they sold Boyata before they made it to the Champions League group stage.
Reports on Tuesday suggested Fulham had lodged a £9million bid for the defender with many fans believing Celtic should take the cash.
Hiwever, the forrmer Celtic striker believes that would be a disaster for Celtic as they look to negotiate their way past Athens over the next week.
Celtic 100% can not let Boyata go this window unless they upgrade… Brendan Rodgers has already stated the squad is weaker than last season.. would not be a good message to send to the supporters in the week of the biggest game of the season..

One fan told Sutton they couldn’t turn down that kind of money but the BT pundit disagreed.
You’d take £9m over showing ambition in Europe??? I’m not saying he is Johan Mjallby but in an already worrying area of concern selling and not replacing with better could have big implications… https://t.co/UWIL9HjfYb
