The Celtic captain has been injured since the Hoops’ defeat in Leipzig; coming off part-way through the match with an injury, he’s missed every game since.

The captain’s armband has been shared between Joe Hart and Cameron Carter-Vickers, with the American defender the go-to man for the vice-captaincy.

Ange Postecoglou confirmed his captain has returned to training and is set to join the team in Portugal for their training camp and a few friendlies. Ange Postecoglou said; [Celtic TV]

“He can’t wait to get cracking. He’s ready to go and it will be great to have him back. Credit to the team. People stepped up, they needed to. He’s [McGregor] such an influential player on and off the field.”

Having Callum McGregor back will be a great boost for the team heading into the next run of games. However, the efforts of Hatate, O’Riley and Mooy in the midfield can not go unnoticed; the trio were brilliant and filled in well for CalMac’s absence.

You feel for Mooy. He’s been outstanding, especially for his country, but will most likely be the player to drop out for Callum McGregor.
