You may whip out the cliche book for “form goes out the window in cups and derbies” but Celtic will take two massive advantages from tonight’s results.

The first and obvious one is the gap in the league table, it might be slender but it is a gap nevertheless. The second advantage will be the psychological one the Bhoys will have at Hampden on Sunday.

The Rangers lost a two-goal advantage tonight and scraped a 2-2 draw, they never showed up for the second half at Pittodrie either. In fact, Aberdeen could have won the game 3-2, Sam Cosgrove had a tap in that he somehow glanced wide of McGregor’s post.

The Aberdeen result looked to be all in vain for the Hoops as they conceded a 90-minute goal to Hamilton to put the score at 1-1. But Celtic captain Scott Brown popped up in injury time for some late dramatics and to give his team all three points.

The confidence and lack of confidence can’t be measured in any form but Sunday will tell all.
