BRENDAN RODGERS team selection this afternoon against Partick Thistle will give you a glimpse into what he’s thinking.

SIX changes from Athens and some notable players getting a run out. The major standout in the starting XI has to be young Mikey Johnston.

Fans have been wanting to see the youngster get more game time, he is a genuine talent with bags of potential. Brendan Rodgers rewarding his hard work with a League Cup run out is massive. Mikey has a head start on Lewis Morgan and Daniel Arzani – hopefully he makes it count.

While it’s more likely Bain takes his place for a tender Craig Gordon it’s clear to see Rodgers has high hopes for his backup goalkeeper and doesn’t hesitate to put him in if need be.

Sinclair starts today, and after his late efforts against Athens you have to hope he’s starting to turn a corner. If we could get Sinclair back to his best as the old worn out cliche goes, it would be like a new signing.

Izzy coming back after a year away and slotting straight into the team to cover Tierney has already vindicated Rodgers decision to bring the Honduran back.

It,s going to be an interesting Glasgow Derby today for sure.

Overall, Rodgers is looking to freshen his squad up. Introduce new players who can add something different to the side and if it’s not forthcoming in the window, he has to bring his youth stars through.

  1. Felt Griffiths should have been kept on to get his second and 100th goal. That’s the boost he and the fans need after the misery of last ten days. He could have had a second if the new kid had been less greedy. Gamboa’s pace is electric. We need to up the pace instead of passing ourselves dizzy as Hendry did.
Under previous management Griffiths carried the team even while injured and deserves better treatment than he gets from the current one. His relegation behind Dembele and Edouard has cost us the best of Griffiths in the past year. This needs sorted.
