Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley has insisted that he wants to reach the very top level of football, as he outlined his ambitions as a player.

The 21-year old has made a superb start to life as a Celtic player, slotting right into Ange Postecoglou’s midfield, amongst a tough run of games and standing out alongside the likes of Reo Hatate.

As quoted by Football Scotland, O’Riley was delighted to get off the mark, scoring his first goal in Green and White against Aberdeen and insisted on his ambitions for reaching the top level, which he also believes he can do whilst at Celtic.

“You have to aim big,” O’Riley said.

“I am not going to settle for a certain level. I want to reach the very top.

“A club like Celtic has the potential to do that, and I am really happy to be here.”

He continued, “I am obviously delighted to get on the board.

“I missed a really good chance against Dundee United, which was playing at the back of my mind.

“I said I could do with scoring against Aberdeen, and fortunately, it happened.

“It was amazing, and it was in front of the fans, which always makes it better.

“I am not too fussed about goals because as long as we are winning, that is the main thing for us.

“It is nice to make contributions, but three points are the main thing for me.”

Since joining the club, O’Riley has quickly become a favourite amongst the fans, not only on the field but also with his attitude towards the game & the club.

The former Fulham and MK Dons man adds to the exciting talent which Ange Postecoglou has at his disposal, with potentially even more to come from several of the January additions, who are only just getting started in Glasgow.

Hopefully, we continue to see that impressive form in the midfield as we approach the business end of the season.
