Celtic’s return to the group stages of the Champions League is nearly upon us with excitement building.

It has been five years since the Hoops competed in the tournament with the special nights about to return to the east end of Glasgow.

The Scottish champions could not head into this game in any better form having recently won the first derby match of the season 4-0 to create a five point gap at the top of the SPFL Premiership.

Saturday’s victory also made it 38 games unbeaten in the league under Postecoglou which is of course equal to an entire league campaign.

Celtic’s first opponents couldn’t be any tougher in the form of Real Madrid but many are excited to see how Ange Postecoglou approaches the game.

The majority of the Hoops faithful are expecting the usual high intensity football that is a joy to watch with Postecoglou being very clear about his football philosophy.

At the 2014 World Cup he didn’t compromise his beliefs as his Socceroos side had a right good go at some top teams but the boss thinks that people may think differently if he was from a different country.

“It’s been a constant in my career. Maybe if I was German or Dutch or Spanish people might look at me differently as a football manager in terms of tactics but apparently I’ve got one simple approach – Plan A and we’ll just stick to that,” said Ange Postecoglou speaking to PLZ Soccer after the derby victory.

Everyone is beyond excited to see how Celtic perform in Europe this season with the manager installing a real belief amongst fans.

Some players have already admitted that the group has been doing dedicated training towards the Champions League but all will be revealed against the European champions.
