Ally McCoist Makes ‘Worrying’ Celtic Admission

Ally McCoist has raised alarm bells over Celtic’s start to the season, with the former Rangers striker concerned by just how good the Hoops look.

Celtic have won their first four games across all competitions, scoring 13 goals and conceding just once. The Bhoys are flying so far ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League play-off second leg against LASK in Austria.

McCoist, who has watched Celtic win 14 of the last 15 league titles, is particularly worried by the signing of Haissem Hassan, having watched him star for Egypt at the World Cup this summer.

Hassan is slowly building his way towards full fitness after an impressive World Cup, and with Camilo Durán stealing the show against LASK on Wednesday, the Egyptian winger will hope to match or even exceed Durán’s early-season form.

Another Celtic player who has stood out to the former striker is Kasper Høgh, who has made a big impression in a short space of time.

McCoist said (talkSPORT): “Celtic have had a great start, I don’t think there’s any doubt the way Celtic have started has helped his recovery, because I thought they were comfortable in the opener.

“Kasper Hogh looked the real deal against Kilmarnock.

“I watched him down there, a proper centre forward’s goal.

“Then the signing of Hassan, I don’t mind telling you I was impressed with him in the World Cup, arguably in one of the runs of the tournament which ended up with a disallowed goal if you remember.

“So yes, worrying signs for the rest of the league, no getting away from it.”

Celtic supporters will take plenty of delight from McCoist’s concern, with even he acknowledging the signs are there that the Hoops could be in for a special season.

With Derek McInnes off to an underwhelming start at Rangers, the obvious comparisons with Celtic are leaving McCoist concerned that, if things continue in the same direction for much longer, the title race could be over earlier than even the most optimistic Celtic supporter might have anticipated.

It is still early in the season. However, if three or more signings can be added before the window closes, Celtic will be in a very strong position to have the best possible campaign, something every supporter would have hoped for before the window opened following the dramatic end to last season.
