The news broke last night Liam Burt could be on the verge of signing for Aberdeen but Derek McInnes has poured cold water over an immediate deal.

The Aberdeen boss has confirmed Burt will train with the developmental team BUT there’s no deal in place at the minute.

“We just invited Liam to come and train.” Aberdeen’s boss told SunSport.

“He will train with the development squad over the next few days and we will have a look at him.

“Because we knew we had a couple of practice matches coming up we thought it was a chance to get him in to have a look and for him to have a look at us.

“It’s no more than that.”

Burt left Celtic less than a year after coming in from the other side of Glasgow.

The youngster didn’t do enough in the small chances he did get down in developmental to warrant another one-year deal.

The Celtic fan has been on the lookout for a new club ever since and as we head to the end of the year, Burt will want to get back to playing.

Could Aberdeen be the perfect place for the midfielder?

Celtic take on the Dons this weekend at Pittodrie looking to get among the goals again after a poor derby display.
