JOHN MCGINN is apparently travelling down to meet with Villa boss Steve Bruce this afternoon as the English club look to get the midfielder in before Thursday’s deadline.

It’s believed Villa will match Hibs valuation of the player along with a sell-on clause should the deal go through/

This would be a blow for Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers who was keen to get the player in and it still remains to be seen whether Celtic will try one last time to sign John.

Right now, it’s just talks with a potential medical to happen if all goes well. Villa want to be in a position to sign the player up straight away once personal terms are agreed – hence why they’re pushing for an early medical.

The English side have until Thursday to finalise all transfer dealings for the coming season after the FA and EFL decided to close their windows before the season starts.

  1. This move will be a huge mistake. Villa are a nothing club. He’ll earn more money, but would achieve more at Celtic.
The Celtic board are acrewing the fans over yet again with this. Rodgers wants him but we won’t meet the 3m valuation, at the same time demanding top dollar for our players.
    12m for boyata? Seriously?
If we end up in the Europa league, we shouldn’t buy any tickets. The board are taking advantage of the fans.
Must be 60m from two years in the CL, probably another 30-40m in transfers, yet all we’ve spent is the Armstrong money on edouard.
The defence is awful, and potentially about to get worse if we sell boyata (even though he’s no Van Dijk).

  2. Pay the money, John is clearly a valuable asset well worth more than the last paltry offers. He is fast, talented, aggressive and a very articulate young man.
Don’t let him slip through our fingers. He is a Celtic Bhoy. Sort this.
