MICHAEL OWEN has been asked for his take on all UK participants in the Europa League this evening and has had his say on Celtic’s game against Sparta Prague.

The game which kicks off at 8pm this evening will be a chance for Celtic to get their first win in the competition.

Sparta are coming with a depleted squad after positive cases popping up in their squad over the past week. Celtic should be taking the chance presented to get three points on the board and build on their draw in Lille.

Michael Owen believes it’s a must win game for the hoops but believes they can do it.

“They welcome Sparta Prague to Parkhead here on what is a must win game for the Celts if they have ambitions of qualifying from the group.” Owen told RecordSport.

“Despite throwing away a 2-goal lead, the home side were good for the majority of their 2-2 draw against Lille last week, and if they can find their rhythm in this, I think they can take the points.”

Neil Lennon has his own problems, two first team centre backs are out in Christopher Jullien and Kristoffer Ajer.

Nir Bitton and Shane Duffy will likely both start in the heart of defence for Celtic. Scott Bain is expected to keep his place in the side at the expense of summer signing Vasilis Barkas.

  1. Last season Scott Bain finished the season 3rd choice. We lost 2 top class keepers in the summer.
We have replaced them at great cost by, in my opinion, an inferior keeper.
Is peter lawwell our head of football?
