Over the course of the season so far, Celtic fans have continued to see improvements in Ange Postecoglou’s side which has recently seen the Hoops go on an impressive run of form.

If we were to look back at the beginning of the summer, not many could have probably seen us in such an optimistic position, given the disaster that was last season, plus plenty of other issues which followed in the lead-up to the appointment of Ange.

The 56-year old faced a massive rebuilding job, which meant bringing in a whole host of new additions to the squad. 12, to be exact.

Some have performed better than others during their short spell with the club so far. However, it would be fair to say we have had much worse transfer windows, especially considering the sheer volume of new players brought to the club.

But, there is one man that stands above the rest when it comes to the club’s best signing in the summer believes Michael Stewart. That man is Ange Postecoglou.

Writing in his weekly column for Sun Sport, the former Hearts midfielder praised Postecoglou for his impact on the club at this stage, with the improvements in the likes of Anthony Ralston and Tom Rogic as the ex Socceroos boss prepares for the possibility of lifting his first piece of silverware in Glasgow.

Kyogo Furuhashi has been fantastic; Jotata has been a joy to watch.

“But the best signing Celtic have made this season remains Ange Postecoglou.

The proof will be in the Christmas pudding if he leads his team to silverware on Sunday.

“The League Cup, or Premier Sports Cup as it is now, has taken on huge significance in recent years since it reverted back to a winter date.

“It was the first trophy Brendan Rodgers picked up as Hoops boss as momentum grew. The same goes for Wim Jansen and Ronny Deila during their time at Celtic.

“A win under Postecoglou, despite some trials this season, would be a huge step forward.

“For Celts, it would be important psychologically after they ended up empty-handed last season.

“There hasn’t been a massive overhaul at the club since then.

“Yes, some new players have come in, but it’s not like they have spent £40million on a complete transformation.

“It’s actually been a little bit patchwork in some cases.

“But that’s not to say there hasn’t been some good business done because clearly there has.

“The best bit, however, was the acquisition of the manager in the first place.

“This trophy would help confirm in everyone’s head that things are going well.”

The vast majority of fans have been right behind Postecoglou since the day he stepped in the door at the club, and his popularity has continued to rise with his team playing some brilliant football.

Winning on Sunday would top off what has been a really good spell of form, bouncing back from a difficult start to the season.

It could also kick start things for this group of players as we have been in the past, mentioned above by Stewart.

I would have to agree with the BBC pundit on this one; Postecoglou is most certainly the best addition we made this summer.
