BRENDAN RODGERS didn’t go as far as saying the words, but his comments were quite clear on Scott Allan’s future as the player’s got set to fly to Dubai over the weekend.

The Irishman was asked about his midfielder’s future with the Scott getting no game time at all this season after coming back from his loan to Hibernian.

Allan was signed by Ronny Deila but has never been given a proper run in the team by either manager in his time at Celtic Park.

The player now has just six months left of his current deal and Rodgers has made it clear he would be free to move on should he find a new club in the coming days and weeks.

“I don’t know, Scotty will probably be at an age where he wants to play. He knows he has the talent to play in most teams, it has just been unfortunate for him here.” Rodgers told RecordSport.

“I like him. He is a good guy, it’s just the form these players have been in for two years has made it very difficult for him to break through. He went out on loan and did well but while he was doing well his team was doing well.

“He has been unfortunate that he hasn’t been able to play. That’s really been through no fault of his own.”

Scott has been a target for Hibs since he left Easter Road in the summer. However, it’s unclear if the Edinburgh side could afford to bring him in.
