SERGIO QUINTERO has revealed Celtic are in talks to sign him and a deal could happen THIS WEEK which would take him from Imbabura SC to the Scottish Champions.

Speaking to SunSport, the player made it clear Celtic have held talks over signing him and he’s desperate to play football in Europe.

“I’m thinking about a move to European football. I’m trying to be calm about it and take it easy.

“The representatives of Celtic have been in talks for some time with the president of Imbabura.

“An agreement has to be reached this week if the transfer is to go through.

“But if the deal doesn’t go through I am relaxed because I have offers from other clubs in Europe and Ecuador. It’s important to make the best decision for me.

“It would be very difficult to adapt to life in a country like Scotland, but with time I think I would be able to settle in.

“I’ve already done English lessons – not a lot, but I have learned enough.”

Quintero is a bit of an unknown quantity, the defensive midfielder has played for just two Ecuadorian clubs in his short career. With Olivier Ntcham looking to move on this window, Celtic are leaving no stone unturned in the pursuit of midfield reinforcements and long term replacements for Scott Brown who has two-years left of his current Celtic deal.

Neil Lennon was known for pulling a gem out of nowhere with Victor Wanyama being proof of that when the Irishman signed the defensive midfielder during his first stint as Celtic manager.

The Celtic boss does have an eye for player and hopefully he has seen a lot of Sergio to be talking about a move.
