NEIL LENNON has delivered some good news this week by declaring long term injured James Forrest is on the brink of a return to first team training.

The winger has been out of action since September and he’s watched from the sidelines as Celtic have imploded on and off the pitch.

There’s no doubt Celtic have missed his creativity and the width he gives the teams

Speaking about the winger’s recovery, Neil Lennon is confident he’ll rejoin full training on Monday.

“We’re hoping Jamsey will start back training with the squad at the start of next week. Fingers crossed on that.” The Celtic manager told SunSport.

“He’s been out on the grass doing his rehab fitness work and the physios are confident he’ll be ready to join back in next week.

“We’ve missed him because he’s a quality player. He’s proved that over the years, time and again, and been so successful.

“He had another magnificent season last year and started this season well again. But unfortunately for him he got a really bad injury and he’s had to be patient and go through all the right steps.

“But he’s nearly there now and he’ll be welcomed back.”

Celtic have struggled to break down team this term, they had no natural right winger and failed to get a back up in the window.

Hopefully James can get back up to full speed quickly and give us a better outlet down the right hand side.

The midfielder has divided opinion down the years with supporters but I don’t think many could argue his absence has done harm to the side this season.

With the league all but over, it’s all about preparing for next season and getting ready for Euro qualifiers.
