EWAN HENDERSON has been told he can leave Celtic with his contract set to expire in six months. [The Sun]

Rising through the academy, the midfielder made his debut during the Rodgers era but has struggled for minutes with Celtic ever since.

The latest reports suggest the ex hoops player, Shaun Maloney is keen to bring the midfielder and brother of Liam, who played for both Hibs and Celtic, to Easter Road. Aged 21, the time is right Ewan him to leave if he’s not in the manager’s plans.

If the midfielder hasn’t made a breakthrough by this age it is unlikely he ever will. He needs to start week-in week-out, as there is an undoubtedly quality player there.

Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi coming in has only pushed Ewan further down the pecking order.

Hibs will most likely push for a deal to go through this window, and will most likely be granted this, but if this does not work, Henderson can be signed for free and join the Hibs squad in the summer.

It is a shame that an academy graduate will not make it at Celtic, here’s hoping he can make it elsewhere just as long as it doesn’t come back to bite us!

  1. He will develop into a good player but celtic can’t wait as more young players push through if you have been around first team for two seasons and not first team pick may be better trying another team loan move yes but I think it will take three years to flourish sorry allbthe best

  2. This boy is a real talent Celtic will rue the day that they didn’t renew his contract like his brother he will go on to be a great player, I don’t understand Celtics youth policy, they sign up young player and then never give them a chance and we carry on buying Duds like Adjeci,Taylor and Turnbull who are not Celtic Class young Henderson is a far better Talent than Turnbull who couldn’t pass wind let alone a football, he can’t tackle a fish supper let alone an opponent, as for the other two players mentioned they are not worth a comment as for offering Taylor another contract beggars belief ?????????????????

  3. A very talented young player – shame he’s taken too long to fulfill what looks to be his potential. He’ll do better at the likes of Hibs, I’m sure, where he’ll get more first team experience.

  4. He hasn’t flourished because managers have failed to capitalise on his abilities. He’ll do well under Shaun Maloney and elsewhere and we’ll regret losing him. A committed, hard-working, clever player from good football heritage and I wish Ewan every success.
