Mikey Johnston completed a deadline-day transfer from his boyhood club Celtic to West Bromwich Albion at the end of last week.
The winger spent the back end of last season on loan at The Hawthorns, and eventually made a permanent switch south after a summer of speculation.
The Baggies shelled out a respectable £3m on the services of Johnston.
A Celtic academy graduate, the Irishman came through the Parkhead ranks before being handed his first team debut by current manager Brendan Rodgers in 2017.
The boss always seemed to see something in the wide-man, but he never gained consistency in a green and white jersey.
A change of scenery in January done the 25-year-old the world of good, and a long-term move to the English Championship was probably best for all parties.
It didn’t come as much of a surprise and on Instagram, Johnston has tonight bid an emotional farewell to Celtic.
He admitted that playing even one minute for the club would have made him happy as he thanked the fans for their support:
Across 93 first-team appearances for the Bhoys, Johnston scored 13 goals and assisted 12.
He won 13 trophies with Celtic including six league titles, four Scottish cups, and three Scottish league cups.
The Ireland international departs with everyone’s best wishes.
