Celtic were interested in bringing midfielder Mohammed Abu Fani to the club this summer. However, a move for the player could prove to be difficult, with his current club Maccabi Haifa keen to hang onto the player until after their Champions League qualifier.

The side is set to play Olympiacos on the 20th of July before facing them again a week later, meaning if Celtic want to sign the midfielder, they’ll have to wait until the 28th of July.

If Celtic are to make an offer, they’ll have to wait, despite the Israeli club reportedly not standing in the way of a potential move.

The player is keen to move away from the club, but Celtic have yet to submit an official offer.

Will Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic Wait?

Ange Postecoglou doesn’t strike me as a manager who’s prepared to wait on a player, which could jeopardise the deal.

Unless there is an agreement put in place that Abu Fani’s transfer will go through after their Champions League qualifier, it’s doubtful that the player will wear Celtic’s green and white net season.

Also, what would happen if the team progressed to the next round? Would the deal be delayed even longer?
