Mohanad Jeahze as not only linked with Celtic earlier this summer, there were rumours he was very close to signing for the Scottish Champion’s.

Fast forward to the end of June and the player has totally fallen off the radar. Instead, Celtic have made moves to bring in Alexandro Bernabei from Argentina. The left-back made the trip to Glasgow on Thursday and is expected to become a Celtic player in the coming days.

Mohanad’s name being linked with Celtic is something his agent and the player didn’t deny at the time. However, it was the Hammarby Sporting Director who was more vocal about a deal not being in place which has proven to be the case.

Reported by RecordSport, Mohanad’s claims the bid to leave the club was real but maybe he wasn’t hungry enough for the opportunity.

“I think I will stay at Hammarby. I have a contract for another year. I’m fully set on that now, and Jeppe (Hammarby’s sporting director) has said no to something too. Jeppe said no. You simply have to accept it. It may not have been enough for them.

“We’re at the top. It would have been a different matter if we were in the middle, it might have been heavier. Now there are no problems.

“Yes (the bid was real). But that was not enough for any of us. Neither me nor Hammarby. It was a good team. Maybe I was not so hungry for it – I have patience. Maybe something else will come this summer.

“It is clear that I want to go abroad at some point. Everyone has a dream of trying something new. But I love (Hammarby) and how Jeppe Jansson wants to take the club forward. I want to go abroad and test myself but we play good football with Marti (Cifuentes, the club’s manager).

Celtic Transfer Interest

Celtic and Ange Postecoglou have the positions they want to strengthen before the beginning of the season. Left-back is one of them, and while they will have been working from a list of two or three players – if the bhoys really wanted Jeahze, a concerted effort would have been made.

The left back is coming in with a good reputation and will directly challenge Greg Taylor for a place in next seasons. We await confirmation of the deal from the club.
