MOHAMED ELYOUNOUSSI addressed CelticTV today after the Celtic star won player of the month for October.

The midfielder really came into his own during October and helped Celtic to domestic and Euro success with his ability to get at the opposition.

Mohamed is on loan from Southampton and Celtic are benefitting from a very talented player who has a point to prove. The Norwegian has slotted right into the team and it’s going to be a struggle for anyone to dislodge him.

There was no signs or talk of his foot injury which seen him return to Glasgow early from international duty. We’re likely to hear about that in the coming days but for what it’s worth the player was in his training gear as he accepted the award on Wednesday.

Speaking to CelticTV, the player was delighted with the recognition and hailed his team-mates. He also revealed he’s become good friends with Moritz Bauer and they are now neighbours in Glasgow.

“It’s a good achievement but as everyone knows, football’s a team sport so I have to thank my team-mates.

“I came up here to Celtic to create chances, score goals and help win games for the team and with the manager’s trust in me, I think I’ve done that.

“The quality of the training here is very good, and the competition between the players in great. We’ve got a really good squad and that’s shown in terms of where we are at the moment – we’re top of the league, both in Scotland and also in the Europa League – and my team-mates are making me a better player, which is why I’ve won this award.”

“You always think about the first goal you score for a club, and that would probably be my favourite goal so far, but hopefully there’s plenty more to come,” he said.

“I would say all of the players have been good to me since I’ve joined Celtic. I came almost at the same time at Moritz Bauer, so it’s only natural that I get along with him. We’re actually neighbours now.

“Fraser Forster, I knew from before at Southampton, and he’s been driving me in to Lennoxtown, while he and Kris Ajer have been telling me things about the club.”
