It looks likely that Celtic forward Giorgos Giakoumakis will leave the Scottish champions during this transfer window as Serie A side Sampdoria have become the latest club interested in signing the Greek forward [Inside Futbol].

J-League side Urawa Red Diamonds looked as though they were the frontrunners to sign the 28-year-old who is reported to be frustrated by his contract situation at the Hoops.

After being the top goalscorer in the Dutch top flight two seasons ago, he made the switch to Glasgow and played a huge part in Celtic going on to win the league title having chipped in 13 goals in the title race.

Kyogo has undoubtedly been the in form striker at the Parkhead club this season as Giakoumakis has tended to be needed to make an impact off the bench which he nearly did in the 2-0 win over Kilmarnock having hit the woodwork twice.

Giakoumakis last struck for Celtic back in October in the 1-1 draw against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League but has failed to register a goal since then.

Postecoglou clearly stated at the weekend that he never falls in love with players and only works with what is in front of him.

Celtic won’t stand in Giakoumakis’ way if he does want to leave the club and there could be yet more teams interested in his services as it is also reported that clubs from Bundesliga and the MLS are also interested.
