We have kept a close eye on Celtic’s loan players over the past few months. With Lewis Morgan, Andrew Gutman and Maryan Shved all grabbing headlines at some point since the new year.

Shved is the latest Celt to hit the headlines and has just won the Ukrainian Player of the Month award. The young winger continues to show promise as it is not the first time he has hit the headlines with impressive performances.

It was Maryan’s transfer that really made Celtic fans think all was not well at Celtic Park management level. Brendan Rodgers very unprofessionally exclaimed he didn’t know a lot about the player and that he didn’t need any wingers. He was clearly indicating that someone else was making the signing and not him. That might have made Celtic fans think they were not getting a quality player if Rodgers didn’t want him.

But fans should look to Celtic’s track record of bringing through youngsters into the first team. Ok, not every player is a hit, but when you look at the Celtic squad and see so many youngsters who have made the grade you can take a few misplaced calls.

Kris Ajer put in a much talked about performance the weekend in the Glasgow derby with a lot of people making Virgil Van Dyke comparisons.
