Former Celtic striker John Hartson believes Celtic must strengthen in January and specifically another striker to help carry the load in a long SPFL season.

However, the Welshman thinks Celtic have a man right now who can replace Moussa Dembele and help shoot the club back to the top of the SPFL table.

Odsonne Edouard has had a good start to the season and John has reserved special praise for the young Frenchman when it comes to leading Celtic’s line

Edouard knows he must now step up and be counted now more than ever after the departure of his countryman Moussa Dembele.

With the striker away to Lyon and no replacement coming it – this means it’s down to both Edouard and Griffiths to keep the goals coming and presents both with more game time and opportunity.

Speaking about Celtic’s current striker situation – Hartson believes it’s now time to see what Eddy has got.

“There was a point this season when it looked as though Brendan Rodgers might go with a back three and play with two up front but I just don’t really see that happening now.” The Welshman told the Evening Times.

“I do think that there is a need to bring in a few signings during the January transfer window which could mean another striker coming to the club, but for now I think Brendan will want to give Edouard a good run in the team.”
