UPDATE: 10:20am

A Ukrainian Twitter account claiming to be a sports journalist has made the claim Mykyta Burda is on his way to France to discuss a £4m move to Celtic.

We put the very strong caveat with this link that we can’t confirm the authenticity of the ‘journalist’s’ account. After some more digging, it appears that the account might be disingenuous.

However, many transfers in the past have come from local journalists bringing the story to light and the media in this country picking it up as their own exclusive – in this case their might not be a lot in it after all.

So who is Mykyta Burda?

A 25-year-old defender who has played his entire career to date at Dynamo Kyiv. The player is a centre-back by trade but can play as a full-back if needed. In his 92 games for Kyiv, Mykyta has played 78 of them as a centre back 7 at left back and only 5 at right.

The player has eight caps for his country with his first coming back in 2018.

If true, this could be Celtic getting ready to field bids for Kristoffer Ajer this summer. While many will claim this is a replacement for Jozo, it’s highly unlikely Lawwell would get Jozo off the wage bill so quickly in order to splash a large amount of cash on an untried replacement.
