Over the weekend, Celtic have reportedly asked Charlton Athletic to name their price for their left-sided full-back Alfie Doughty.

RecordSport reports Celtic has watched Alfie and have now gone to the Charlton to see if a deal can be done. Charlton are in takeover turmoil at the moment which makes things more difficult to get a deal done.

However, Doughty should not be an expensive acquisition. The Englishman is on the last year of his Charlton contract, which would mean Celtic can pick him up for relatively cheap.

Neil Lennon and Nicky Hammond have been in overdrive looking for a left-sided full back or defender to fit into the Celtic manager’s 3-5-2 system.

Right now, Greg Taylor occupies the left back position but with Bolingoli out of the squad due to his own actions, the position needs cover and competition.

Celtic are back in action on Saturday against Ross County, where there could be two debuts if David Turnbull and Shane Duffy get onto the field.
