NEIL DONCASTER has today claimed the longer Scottish football is on the shelf the more government intervention it will need to survive.
Citing a precedent down south by the UK government, the SPFL chief reveals the football clubs north of the border will need a cash injection to continue once this crisis is over.
No gate receipts or big income for any club will have a devastating effect on the sport and could shut down a number of clubs without financial help.
Neil Doncaster: ‘We have seen the UK Government pledging £16m support to Rugby League in England to prevent it from being devastated by COVID-19. The longer we are unable to play matches in Scotland, the more essential will be significant financial support for our sport.”

Task forces have been set up to try and look at the viability of getting games played but right now, it just looks like it’s not possible.
The lower divisions have been called while the top flight waits a little longer. The UK is now the hardest hit European country and the thought of football being back on the table over the summer looks misguided
