There have been rumours doing the rounds on social media since Thursday that Celtic captain Scott Brown had succumbed to an injury after the game against Riga in Latvia.

Broony took a bit of a bump when he was tripped from behind at pace, at the time, it looked as if the player should have seen red for the challenge, but the referee on the night only brandished a yellow.

We’re used to our captain taking a beating and popping right back up and getting on with it. We at least know when Broony is out of the team, there must be a good reason for it. However, Neil Lennon was quick to play down any rumours the Celtic legend was struggling and addressed the notion he could miss out against Hibernian.

“Scott was OK after the game. He was scraped down the back of his calf. After the game and on the flight home, he didn’t seem too concerned about it.” The Celtic manager told RecordSport.

If Broony is carrying any sort of injury, Neil Lennon wasn’t up for letting Hibernian know at least. There’s cover there with David Turnbull and Ismaila Soro if Scott doesn’t make it.
