NEIL LENNON has finally broken his silence on Scott Sinclair and why he isn’t in the squad and as explanations go it’s pretty flimsy.

The Irishman puts it down to the form of Mikey Johnstone and James Forrest for Scott not getting in the matchday squad. However, the manager failed to address why he continues to play keep a struggling Lewis Morgan on the bench rather than have Scott Sinclair to call upon for his experience.

At 30-years-old and having spent the last three years at Celtic, the Englishman can certainly tough out results with his team-mates and chip in with the odd goal.

I don’t think there are many fans who would argue Sinclair should start every game at this point but there are many who believe his presence in the first-team squad would still hold value.

Neil Lennon doesn’t see it like that and said as much when asked if Sinclair is frustrated.

“If he feels like that, it’s understandable. We don’t want to treat him badly because he’s a senior pro. It’s just that he’s finding it difficult right now to get into the squad. I can’t pick six wingers.” Neil Lennon told RecordSport.

“Our wide men have been playing so well and we’ve been scoring goals. We look a threat. We have good pace in the team, something which Mikey brings to us.”

Many will see this as a rather poor excuse and add fuel to the fire the Englishman is now being punished in some way for not making the move back down south before the English deadline.

Celtic took the option up to keep Sinclair here another year and he’s on big wages. It’s a shame Neil thinks he holds less value than Lewis Morgan at this point.
